The Story
Four matched bent-back Windsors out of an American chair factory around the turn of the last century — solid plank seats, one-piece steam-bent hoops, legs socketed and pinned the old way, undersides gone grey-brown with a hundred years of air. Decades on, an owner with a steady hand painted them black and dressed every seat, hoop and leg in pink-and-blue flower sprays. That decoration is itself old now: the paint has crazed right through the petals and worn back to the original varnish along the hoops. All four sit sturdy and see daily use.
